GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • These instructions were created using Windows XP and IE 6.0 + 7.0, but other Windows programs should be very similar.

  • The "instructions" will open in a new window, which you may have to "maximize" for better viewing by:

    • Hitting the "F11" button (hit "F11" a 2nd time to return to 'normal' size)  -or-

    • Clicking on the "maximize" icon on the upper right-hand side of the new window (least confusing solution).

  • Web Browsers other than Internet Explorer (i.e. Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, etc.) may not show the PowerPoint instruction slides clearly.  Also, downloading MP3 files will not be the same procedure.

  • If your Internet Explorer browser adds a toolbar in your new browser window containing this verbiage:  "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer...," you will have to "allow blocked content" in order to view the instructions.  To allow blocked content:

    • 'right-click' anywhere on that bar

    • in the new pop-up box, 'left-click' on "Allow Blocked Content..."

    • When you get the box with the Security Warning, click on the 'Yes' button.

    • The "instructions" will then become visible.

HOW DO I:

  • Save an .mp3 file to my computer, for listening later or for burning a CD - using Internet Explorer:

    1. "Right click" on the words download MP3 for the sermon or lecture that you wish to hear.

    2. >>>To play (not save) the file:  "Left click" on the word "Open" and your media player will begin playing the sermon / lecture.

    3. To save the file:  "Left click" on the words "Save Target As..." this process will save the file onto your computer in order to listen to it later, or if you wish to burn your own CD for playing in your car or on any other CD player.

      • When the new window opens after clicking "Save Target As...", click on the "TV screen" icon with the word "desktop" under it.  This will send your file to your desktop where you can find it.  (You may move it to wherever you wish later - but at least for now you will know where it is.)

      • Note the name of this file (highlighted in the bottom center of this window.  You may change the name of this file if you wish - by just typing a new name into this highlighted box - but do NOT change the "Save as type" box unless you know what you are doing.

      • Then "Left click" on the "Save" button in the lower right-hand corner of this same window (just to the right of the "file name" box).  A new "downloading" box will appear on your screen with little green squares that indicate the progress of your download.  When the little squares fill the slot, the download is complete and the box will disappear.

      • When this new box disappears (it will do so by itself), your download is complete and you will find a new .mp3 file on your desktop.

      • To listen to the sermon / lecture, "Right click" on this new file and "Left click" open.  Your media player will begin playing the file.  The file itself will remain and may be listened to at any time and / or may be moved to a folder of your choice for future selection.

      • This file may also be burned onto a CD for your car or other player.  IMPORTANT:  Burn the CD as an "AUDIO FILE", NOT as an mp3 file, unless you intend to use an mp3 player.  When you select "audio file" on your CD burner program, it will convert this mp3 file to an audio file as it burns the CD.

      • NOTE:  this show contains 9 individual slides of about 225 KB each for a total file size of about 2 MB.

WHAT IF:

  • This week's sermon does not appear and it's Monday or Tuesday already?

    • OVERVIEW:  As a "rule of thumb", Sunday morning's sermon is posted by 3:00pm and Sunday evening's lecture is posted by 10:00pm.  If the sermon (morning) or lecture (evening) is part of a series, it should appear when you click on "current morning" or "current evening" series on our home page, or when you click on "morning" or "evening" series on our archive page.  If the sermon is from a guest speaker, then it will be listed for a week or two at the top of our archive page, with a note pointing you to that sermon.  (It may also be found by going to the "speaker's" page and clicking on the speaker's name.)

    • REFRESH BUTTON: If you do not see the new sermon or lecture on the web site, it may be because your browser is showing you the page from its last visit.  You can make sure that you are seeing the latest updated web page by clicking on your browser's "refresh" button - that little button near the top of the web page with the two green arrows pointing in a circle.  You may click this when you are viewing any web page which you think may have an update that you are not seeing.

    • If you are not sure which button is the "refresh button", and wish to view a picture of it: IE6 click here or for IE7 click here

      • NOTE:  these area single slides with file sizes of about 225 KB.
